The oar fish

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the rarest fish you will ever lay eyes on. This fish is believed to herald earthquakes. Given the fact that it's a deep sea creature, very little is known about them. They usually wash up - although rarely - dying along the Sea of Japan. But since November 2009 not less than 19 have washed up in several Japanese prefectures. Most were dead or died shortly after they were found. Seiji Sasai of the Echizen Matsushima Acquarium in Sakai, Japan, found two in four days. “It is baffling why these rare creatures emerged within such a short time,” he told Ashai Shimbun
